During the Qajar era, the relationship between wealth and social prestige was deeply established, and wealth was considered an important tool for achieving social identity and prestige. This trend continued during the Constitutional era, but the press tried to criticize it. The present article, with the aim of examining the reflection of this issue in the publications of the Constitutional era, examines newspapers published in the years 1325 to 1326 AH using a descriptive-analytical method. The main goal of the research is to answer the question of how wealth played a role in the display of social prestige from the press's perspective and what methods the press used to criticize it. The issue of social prestige and identity is one of the key issues in Georg Simmel's thought, and this article examines the issue based on his theory. The findings show that the press has not only introduced wealth as a tool for creating identity, but has also seriously criticized it. The representation of this type of social prestige can be seen in three axes: displaying lifestyle, producing false prestige through bribery, and destroying the position of individuals with financial power. Newspapers were trying to question this form of social prestige and introduce it as contrary to constitutional principles. The results show that although the effect of the press was limited, they were able to clearly portray social anomalies.
