Art and architecture are always formed in cultural exchanges and connections between territories. Iran is a land rich in art and has transferred this art and architecture to other countries in different periods in exchange with other countries. The lands of East Africa, which are adjacent to the Indian Ocean, have been a place for commercial exchanges and economic prosperity with other countries in the region since the distant past due to their geographical location. These commercial and economic exchanges have been very effective in shaping and directing the art and architecture of the region, and in the migration of people to these lands; their thoughts, cultures, style and artistic style have also been transferred.
Among the East African countries, Tanzania is one of the lands where Iranians have been present according to historical documents. This country has witnessed the presence of the Shirazis and the formation of the Afra Shirazi Empire during the past times, in the 11th-12th centuries AD. In the past, with their presence in these lands, in addition to transmitting thought, religion, and culture, Iranians have transferred the methods and technologies of art and architecture in those lands, causing a change in the style and context of architecture. This land has become the arrival of the Shirazis in this land and the transmission of their religious ideas is accompanied by the construction of mosques and religious buildings in this city. One of the outstanding features of the buildings of this period is the execution of mosques with a shebastian pattern along with the technique of execution of vaults and domes and domed roofs, which was one of the outstanding features of Iran's influence on East Africa and the territory of Tanzania. According to Dr. Pirnia, the father of Iranian architecture, the technique of implementing a domed roof on a square plan with the implementation of corner filling is one of the masterpieces and technological methods of Iranian architecture. This article aims to recognize specific physical---spatial patterns of Iranian architecture on the architecture of the East African region by using the qualitative research method through the analysis of the architectural layers of this land and to prove the influence of African architecture from Iranian architecture based on the recognition.
