ith the onset of the Mongol invasions and their boundless devastation, scholarly centers suffered immense damage. In the wake of these chaotic conditions—characterized by the killing of numerous scientists and intellectuals, the flight of others, and the widespread destruction of academic hubs—an unprecedented stagnation emerged in the Muslim scholarly community, placing Islamic civilization in grave jeopardy. In this context, the role of Khwājah Naṣīr al-Dīn al-Ṭūsī, as one of the preeminent scholars of this period, is particularly noteworthy. Accordingly, the present article, employing a qualitative analysis method, investigates al-Ṭūsī's role in this regard. The findings indicate that through priority-oriented measures in both the scientific and practical spheres—including comprehensive scientific outlook (comprehensiveness in scholarship), scientific pragmatism (functionalist approach to knowledge), provision of security, attraction of scholars and their multifaceted support, the establishment of academic centers and institutions, and the cultivation of an atmosphere of free inquiry (intellectual openness)—he was able to fill this void, and his efforts ultimately led to the renewed flourishing of scholarly institutions.
