The topic of the plural attributed to Hajjaj bin Yusuf Thaqafi is one of the topics of the history of the Qur'an that has been less discussed, on the other hand, this topic is associated with many ambiguities. Hajjaj was the bloodthirsty and brutal governor of the Umayyad Caliphate who was very interested in forcing people to follow the Ottoman books. A correct understanding of the nature of pilgrims' actions regarding the Qur'an, with the method of historical study of evidence documents and a structuralist approach, can correctly explain the motivation, nature and consequences of the pilgrims' actions regarding the Qur'an and reciters. Hajjaj bin Yusuf Thaqfi, by suppressing the reciters, repeatedly reading from the Mushaf in the mosque and forcing people to read from the Ottoman Mushaf, counting the words and letters of the Qur'an and jurisprudence, was able to deeply transform the meaning of reading and Qari. This important semantic evolution has caused a misunderstanding in the history of the science of recitation and all statements that mention the term recitation and Qari in the first century of Hijri.
