The hypothesis of the research is that "the ritual of religious greeting was held during the Qajar period on the occasion of religious ceremonies and had the function of creating legitimacy for the Qajar government". The sources of this period repeatedly refer to the holding of this ceremony, especially during the reign of Naser al-Din Shah, for the aforementioned purpose, and this indicates the high importance of such religious ceremonies in the eyes of the Qajar kings. The current research, using sources, documents and newspapers of the Qajar era, has investigated and explained how to hold the religious greeting ceremony with the aim of legitimizing the Qajar rule period:During the Qajar period, the ritual of the national greeting was held with special ceremonies on the occasions of Eid al-Adha, Eid al-Fitr, Eid Ghadir Khum, the birthday of Hazrat Muhammad (pbuh), the birthday of Imam Ali (pbuh), the birthday of Imam Hussain (pbuh) and half of Sha'ban. Some of the religious greetings were established for the first time by Nasir al-Din Shah.By holding such ceremonies, the Qajar kings were looking for a way to create legitimacy, especially among the people, and to diminish the role of scholars; Because with the initiative of Naser al-Din Shah, the duties of scholars in holding religious ceremonies were transferred to the Shah.Salam rituals were neglected after the Qajar period and no information is available.
