Afghanistan has been captured by turbulent and anxious changes for more than four decades, and crises have been at their peak. The Organization of Islamic Cooperation, which was founded in 1969 by countries including Afghanistan, has declared its goals to support Islamic nationalism struggles and establish a just global peace. The research question was what actions this organization has taken in the political developments in Afghanistan and in order to end the crises in the country. The main question relevant to this issue was: What was the role of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in the political developments in Afghanistan?
The attempt was made to provide a scientific answer to this question using documentary methods. Considering the hypothesis that the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, due to its structural weakness and the specific policies of its members, has not played an acceptable role in the political developments in Afghanistan and has failed to decrease the country's crises; in fact, the role of this organization has not gone beyond issuing insignificant statements.
The investigations show that during the Islamic Jihad and Resistance era, the organization attempted to peacefully resolve the Afghan issue by exerting political pressure on the Soviet Union and the communist regime in Kabul and supporting the Islamic Jihad and Resistance. But during the civil wars, it only published statements calling for peace and expressing concern about the war.
Structural weakness and the uncoordinated and conflicting foreign policies of the organization's members are the most important reasons for the organization's failure and inefficiency in resolving these issues and the failure to implement its statements.
