Orientalists’ Shia studies had a significant progress after the Islamic revolution of Iran, despite its weak background. However its consequences and reflections are not identified, which were not considered highly by researchers. So the question of the paper is: What are the consequences and reflections of Shia studies (Question). It seems the current intellectual and methodological climate on orientalists’ researches had a significant and remarkable impact on Shia studies researchers who are familiar with the works of foreigner (Hypothesis). After parting the media climate from scientific studies on Shia Muslims in West, and apart from analyzing the presumptive motivations, purposes and damages of these studies in content and methodology aspects, analyzing the consequences of orientalists’ Shia studies would be necessary (Purpose). The study of resources, typology, methodology and pathology should be applied in analyzing orientalists’ Shia studies, along with descriptive approach based on explanation of western Shia researchers’ works (Methodology). The present paper has acknowledged scientific, perceptive, methodological, structural, social, cultural and political reflections of Shia studies. Also we should not ignore the political and social consequences of these studies, which are: recognition of Islamic and Shiite identity, developing studies with cultural and social approaches, and specially the new colonization approaches in post-colonization orientalists’ works (Findings).
