For more than four decades Afghanistan has been caught up and grappling with continues crises. The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), which was established in 1969 by a number of countries including Afghanistan, announced support for Islamic independence efforts and a just universal peace, as part of its objectives. The purpose of the research was to find out what concrete steps The Organization has taken to end the crisis in the country. Thus, the main question of its role in political changes in Afghanistan is on the surface? The intension was to respond to the question using documentary academic evidences. With this hypothesis that the OIC, due to its poor structural framework and divided policies of its member countries, has not played a positive role in the political changes and has failed to prevent or reduce the on-going crises downgrading its role to issuing only empty and useless statements. A review of the research findings concluded that, during resistance against Soviet invasion of Afghanistan the OIC tried to influence a peaceful resolution by exerting pressure on USSR, its puppet Communist Regime in Kabul and by supporting the Islamic resistance of Jihad. However, during the civil war the OIC involvement was limited to only releasing statements inviting the warring parties to peace and raising its concerns. The poor organizational structure, uncoordinated and conflicting policies and stances have been the main reasons for its failure and ineffectiveness in asserting influence and implementing its statements.
