Abstract

At the end of the Qajar dynasty, when the situation in Iran was affected by the internal chaotic conditions and the failure of the constitutional governments to establish order and security on the one hand, and the chaos caused by the global developments and the First World War on the other hand, the southern police under the command of the British general Sir Percy Sykes and under the pretext The establishment of order in the south of Iran was founded. In the midst of the First World War, the skepticism of Iranians towards Russia and England increased greatly, and the presence of Germans, especially in the south, caused Iranian reactions, including the Qashqais and Bakhtiaris, as well as the people of the cities of Kazron, Bushehr, Ahram and Niriz, towards the Allies. These conditions and other factors highlighted the role of the southern police for the British.
One of the cities that was attacked by the southern police forces in the Golan area during this time was Niriz, where the Khamsa people and especially the Arab people who lived in this area had conflicts with this foreign force. While the leadership of Ilat Khumsa was under the responsibility of Qawam al-Mulk, who is known for supporting the British, but the people of Ilat Khumsa were anti-British. Now this question is raised, what was the reason for the opposition of Ilat Khumsa and especially the Arabs against the force under the authority of the British? The main hypothesis of this research is that the reason for the opposition of the Arab tribe to the police in the south is one of the Iranian identity formed in this tribe due to their residence in the cradle of Iranian civilization i.e. Fars, and the other is the imposition and fabrication of the confederation of the Khamsa tribes and the disobedience of this tribe to the Ilkhan. Self-imposition means consistency. Research findings confirm this hypothesis. The method of this research is descriptive-analytical, relying on library sources and using the documents available in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Diplomacy History and Documents Center.
