Content and citation analysis of the articles of the quarterly "Scientific Quarterly of Historical Studies of the Islamic World"

Abstract

One of the main goals in the strategic planning of scientific journals is to review and analyze the scientific productions of that journal. This review gives the editors and policymakers of the journal an opportunity to improve the quality of its research activities while evaluating the progress and shortcomings of the journal's content and citations. The scientific quarterly "Historical Studies of the Islamic World" is one of the magazines approved by the Ministry of Science in the field of Islamic history, which publishes articles in the field of Shiite history, Ahl al-Bayt (AS), history of Islamic civilization, history of Islam and history of Islamic Iran with a wide range of topics. Prints and publishes. The aim of the current research is to analyze the content and citations of the articles of this quarterly. The research method, content analysis, and citation were done using Excel software. The research findings show that 124 articles have been published in the 14 issues of this quarterly from number 11 to number 24, 72% of the articles were jointly authored, and the rest were written individually. The total number of citations is 5478 and an average of 17/ for each article. There were 44 citations. On average, they had 2.71 external citations, 0.4 citations from the site, 31.48 citations from books, 3.23 citations from articles, and 0.9 citations from master and doctoral theses. 80% of the authors of the articles were men, and the rest were women. Also, 27% of the authors had faculty rank. Books are ranked higher than other sources with 4816 citations. Qualitative methods were used among research methods with 100%, and finally, suggestions were presented.
